The Bird Sanctuary is for the birds...

We went to the Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary this morning. All was going well until the white peacocks started to squack a little too loudly for Madi's ears.

It was a rather neat place. They had ostrich, peacocks, roosters, cockatoos, black haired pigs, swans, ducks, cows, a yak (I think...), turtles, goats and a koi pond. Madi got to feed the Lama, Shetland Ponies and Donkeys peanuts.

There was a calf that seemed very interested in Madi. The mother stuck her head through the rails and licked Madi. She thought that it was funny to be "kissed" by a cow. I am just glad she didn't freak out or who knows what those cows would have been able to do!

Madi really liked the ducks and swans. I had a hard time getting her to check out anything else. Too bad I didn't bring any quarters to pay for duck food...

Me Do Myself...

Madi is not two. She should not be in the independent phase just yet. Oh how wrong my thinking is! She wanted to climb up the rope ladder (that is actually metal...because that is more safe...?) all by herself.

She made it by the way...all by herself.

Easter Bubbles!

Madi got the greatest bubble toy for Easter. What's so great about it - the fact that it does not require either Brad or I to blow the bubbles for her. She figured out how to do it pretty quickly. I know all first time parents think their kids are the greatest at everything, but I really am constantly amazed at how observant Madi is for her age.

Another Easter Egg Hunt

Since I didn't manage to get pictures of the Easter Egg Hunt we participated in yesterday, we decided to have another Easter Egg Hunt. Ok, I'm kidding - both were planned in advance. I just remembered to take pictures this time. I do wish that I had a better camera so you could hear how excited she was to find "eeeggs".

Sharing is so nice...here have some.

This basket comes up to my kneecaps, which makes it difficult to carry and walk at the same time.

"I'n runnin!"

"What's inside this thing anyway?"

This picture was not intended to be artistic in any way. I just don't think that way.

The spoils of victory...slightly altered.

We participated in the Mommy & Me West Easter Egg Hunt. I neglected to bring the camera out of my bag to take pictures at the park. I wish I would have had a video camera to catch her running after the eggs. She was so excitted, you would think that I hadn't let her out of the house for a week! I did get a few shots of her with her "eeeggs" after her nap. I'm glad she likes opening them despite the fact that I took all the candy and goodies out. Maybe she'll catch on next year.

I knew it was coming...

I took a minute or two for myself this morning - ok, it really wasn't for myself. I had neglected my kitchen for too long and felt the need to clean it up. I should know better...I'll let Madi tell you...

Oh - It gets even better. Here's were I made her "clean it up"...

I haven't decided if I am mad at her for coloring on the walls or if I think it is more amusing that she had as much fun cleaning it up as she did making the mess. I know every kid does this at some point - and I was expecting it on some level. I wasn't expecting her to enjoy cleaning it up.

Future teacher...

Brad's mom gave Madi the coolest ABC book for Christmas. It has pieces that come out, but they are magnets. Madi likes taking the magnets and sticking them on the fridge. I heard her talking in her room while I was looking for something and found her asking her stuffed animal, "What's that?". Upon closer inspection, I found her holding one of the magnetic pieces of the book up to the stuffed animal. I think he might become an elementary school teacher at the rate she is going...
